Well when we got there, they (I shit you not) kept handing him lemons to hold? It was summer time so I guess they had a lemonade stand set up - but they just gave him lemons. When I called and told them it was for a first birthday, they said they had plenty of props - cool! I don't need to bring my own. I'm not a photographer, nor have I ever done "professional" photos like that - but I thought that someone working with kids would be happier and like.more animated? You know, to get them interested.įinally, the props situation was insane. Again, because he was cranky from before, this was difficult. So my husband and I tried to get him to stay put and look at the camera. Once she tried jiggling a teddy bear to get his attention, but that's it. It wouldn't be an issue, but the photographer refused to move? She basically wanted to shoot him dead on or nothing at all. My son moves a lot - he's been walking since 9 months, and we couldn't keep him in a spot. but then we get called in and the photographer was the least enthusiastic woman I've ever met. My son was super cranky because he was getting hungry and was being told no a lot. I asked if we could walk around the mall, but they basically said if we leave and they call us, we lose our spot. They were over an hour behind - so that meant entertaining my very active 1 year old in the small studio (lots of redirecting because he kept trying to get into everything). We strategically chose a window of time because it was best for him eating/napping. We did and we walked away with no photos.
